Japanese Indigo Dyeing Workshop "KOSOEN"

Murata Senko was established in Ome in 1919.
Originally specializing in yarn dyeing for towels and fabrics, the studio launched "KOSOEN," a workshop dedicated to indigo dyeing, in 1989, returning to the roots of traditional indigo dyeing.
At KOSOEN, all indigo dyeing is done using natural indigo through the "aku-hakko-date" (lye fermentation) method.

Kosoen's Craftsmanship and Pride

KOSOEN conducted original research into the indigo dyeing techniques of Ome-jima and successfully revived them after 120 years.

Today, the studio creates not only traditional Ome-jima textiles but also stoles, shirts, dresses, and other items featuring beautiful tie-dye patterns and gradations.
The studio also accepts numerous orders from renowned brands.

Young artisans

Kosoen is home to many young artisans, drawn by an environment where they can preserve traditional techniques while creating new works that reflect modern aesthetics.
